13 December, 2019The lightest breast implants in the world
In January 2019 I performed the first breast augmentation surgery in Portugal with B-Lite prostheses. These new implants are revolutionary and represent the most important breakthrough for breast implants in the last 30 years. To ensure their use and safety before they are available, they have been developed and tested by a multidisciplinary team for 10 years.
But what is special or different about the implants so far?
Their big difference is that they are 30% lighter than conventional implants, which allows a considerable reduction in the weight felt by the patient. They are currently the lightest breast prostheses in the world, which offers a number of advantages for the patient, such as:
- Lower tissue pressure, which contributes to the breast suffering less with weight and the effect of gravity;
- Lower breast ptosis (fall) over the years and, consequently, less likely to sag and sag over the years, which makes the result naturally longer lasting;
- Easier observation of tissues in radiological control because the composition of the prosthesis material is more transparent than traditional silicone. Thus, it is possible to benefit from more accurate follow-up;
- Lower rate of long-term complications.
The advantages are similar in terms of recovery. There is greater comfort, convenience and speed in the postoperative process.
This latest generation of implants is especially suitable for the following women:
- Women who have had mastectomy for cancer or prophylaxis;
- Active young people who play sports regularly;
- Women with sagging breast tissues;
- Implant replacement surgeries.
The B-Lite prosthesis has, in its genesis, an innovative technology that increases the woman’s comfort and well-being, and is therefore an excellent option to be analyzed in consultation with the plastic surgeon.
