Carboxytherapy

Carboxitherapy works by the mechanical effect of the rapid entry into tissues of CO2 which is thus capable of destroying some fat cells and resolving ‘fibroses’.

What is carboxitherapy?

Carboxitherapy consists of introducing carbon dioxide (CO2) under the skin through a small needle. From the place where it is infiltrated, this gas diffuses to the surrounding tissues immediately and naturally.

CO2 is an inert and harmless gas that exists within us as the final product of metabolism being transported by red blood cells to be eliminated by the lungs. Carboxitherapy is therefore a safe technique, well tested and well known in the medical field and one of the most used in aesthetic medicine in the world. For example, it is the ‘gas’ that is used in large quantities in laparoscopic abdominal surgery.

How does carboxitherapy work?

Carboxitherapy works by the mechanical effect of the rapid entry into tissues of CO2 which is thus capable of destroying some fat cells and resolving ‘fibroses’.

At the same time, infiltrated CO2 is exchanged for blood oxygen, which is in turn deposited in tissues, which causes the activation of metabolic and repair processes. Carboxitherapy is a way of stimulating blood circulation as well as tissue oxygenation and is useful in such diverse situations as psoriasis, alopecia (hair loss), ulcers, hard-healing wounds, scars, fibroses and of course aesthetic conditions.

What are the carboxitherapy indications?

Carboxitherapy is a reference in the treatment of cellulite, but also results well in improving sagging, particularly in difficult areas such as the arms, submental, thighs and knees. It may also be useful in stretch marks and scars regardless of their location.

In the face, its interest in the improvement of the periocular area stands out especially when there are wrinkles, sagging or hyperpigmentation (“dark circles”).

In the female intimate zone is useful in rejuvenating the external genitals. Being a ‘new’ area of expertise, it is already supported by several studies to improve sagging and provide a younger appearance of the large lips.

Carboxitherapy is conveniently performed in the office and several sessions are required every two weeks. It is usually combined with other techniques in specific protocols to enhance their results.
